Explore a key period in England's history with hip young historian Dan Jones (Britain's Bloodiest Dynasty). Based on Jones's New York Times bestseller The Hollow Crown: The Wars of the Roses and the Rise of the Tudors, complete with colorful re-creations, this exciting docudrama is a panoramic sweep through 100 bloody years of power struggles, passion, conflict, and betrayal - a real Game of Thrones, when the English crown changed hands many times. 4 episodes, 2 DVDs, SDH.

The Mad King
After the death of the Duke of Suffolk in 1450, various factions compete for control over the feeble-minded King Henry VI. Richard of York struggles with Henry's French wife, Margaret of Anjou, and her favorite, Edmund, Duke of Somerset.

The Kingmaker Must Die
Edward of York becomes King Edward IV in 1461, after wresting power from Henry VI, but must subsequently deal with his ally, Warwick the Kingmaker. In 1465, Edward marries the beautiful but lowborn Elizabeth Woodville.

The Princes Must Die
One of the most infamous chapters of the War of the Roses is examined, asking whether Richard III really did kill the Princes in the Tower in 1483. At the time of Edward IV's death, his younger brother Richard was an English hero, a great military leader who had shown unswerving loyalty to the crown. What could have happened to change him into a child-murdering tyrant in just three months?

A Mother's Love
The War of the Roses ended in August 1485 when Henry Tudor defeated Richard III at the battle of Bosworth. However, Henry would never have become king and founded the Tudor dynasty without his mother, Margaret Beaufort. It's revealed how the widow kept her only son safe as England descended into chaos, and why she endured many risks to place him on the throne.
