Fond of whisky, jazz, and women, Reverend Sidney Chambers (James Norton, Happy Valley) gives clergymen a fresh image. But when one of his parishioners dies in suspicious circumstances, Sidney quickly finds that people confide things in a parish priest that they would never tell police. Pushed into the dangerous world of lies, betrayal, and murder, Sidney joins forces with the overworked and weary Detective Inspector Geordie Keating (Robson Green, Wire in the Blood, Reckless). The cleric and cop bond over their war service, their love of a good pub, and their competitive instincts.

The cleric and cop bond over their war service, their love of a good pub, and their competitive instincts.. It's 1953 and Sidney Chambers (James Norton, Happy Valley) is vicar of Grantchester, a village just outside Cambridge, England. Sidney's is a quiet life. He tends to his flock, keeps up with his jazz collection, and does his best to contain his passion for beautiful heiress Amanda Kendall.

It's the start of a beautiful friendship that will take Sidney and Geordie through a series of challenging cases, revealing the dark side of early 1950s England--jealousy, prejudice, class conflict, and plain old passion.

Another British Mystery
The Brits do it again with this excellent mystery/drama. Excellent actors, story, setting, all done very well. Very good mysteries and a very good back story, relating to WWII, but relevant to today's returning GIs.

The best PBS serier ever!
I've been watching this series on PBS and saw only the 1st 6 episodes, but I have never loved
a show more, and that's saying a lot as PBS has some amazing shows. The acting is superb, the characters rich and interesting, and the stories touching, meaningful and
very rewarding. I can't wait for season 2.
