Forensic pathologists Professor Leo Dalton, Dr Harry Cunningham and Dr Nikki Alexander are back in one of the BBC’s most successful and longest-running crime dramas. This series kicks off with an RAF helicopter crashing into an asylum seekers’ detention centre. Harry suspects a possible RAF whitewash and finds himself up against the Ministry of Defence who are struggling to cope with the demands of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Subsequent stories include a trail of murders that leads to a hospital cover up, and the killing of a notorious female murderer that forces Nikki to revisit an emotive and controversial case from her past.
1. Apocalypse (Part 1)
When an RAF helicopter crashes onto a detention centre for asylum seekers, Harry and Nikki are first
on the scene. But as the case progresses, Nikki discovers irregularities among the asylum seekers and
Harry starts falling out with the Ministry Of Defence.
2. Apocalypse (Part 2)
Obsessed with proving the pilot’s innocence, Harry suspects the MOD may be covering up the true
cause of the helicopter crash. Nikki identifies the detention centre victim but realises that by doing so
she may have put his daughter in danger.
3. Suffer The Children (Part 1)
The discovery of a mutilated child’s body in a river raises the question of ritual killing and brings Leo faceto-face
with a ghost from his past. Meanwhile, Nikki investigates the apparently suspicious death of a
priest from a local Catholic boys’ school.
4. Suffer The Children (Part 2)
Leo refuses to back down in his search for the killers of the young boy, despite threats and increasing
racial tension. Meanwhile, Nikki’s enquiries turn from the boys’ school to a local doctor.
5. Hippocratic Oath (Part 1)
A post mortem on a child who died during pioneering surgery prompts Nikki to investigate a leading
paediatrician with an unusually high mortality rate.
6. Hippocratic Oath (Part 2)
With Nikki out of action and a theatre nurse missing, Harry and Leo dig deeper into the hospital deaths.
Are there two killers on the loose?
7. Double Dare (Part 1)
Nikki is forced to revisit an emotive and controversial case from her past when a notorious female
murderer is herself murdered
8. Double Dare (Part 2)
Nikki’s professional reputation is at stake as doubts about the Paula Colebrook case continue.
Meanwhile, Harry is investigating two unidentified bodies found in the garden of an empty house.
9. Peripheral Vision (Part 1)
Nikki clashes with DCI Mays over the guilt of a gypsy he suspects of a double murder, while Harry takes
on an insurance company which is refusing to pay out life assurance over a case of CJD.
10. Peripheral Vision (Part 2)
Was the gypsy’s death suicide or murder? Nikki and Mays can’t agree, and Nikki’s investigations into his
and the girls’ deaths expose a significant police cover-up and lead her danger.
