Blinking into sunlight, 26-year-old Ivy Moxam stumbles out into the street, away from the cellar that’s been her prison for the last 13 years. But escape is not the end of Ivy’'s story. It'’s just the beginning.

As she returns home, Ivy’'s parents keep their bitter separation from her, desperate to recreate the idyllic life she was wrenched from. A mother who can'’t confront the truth of those missing years, a father torn between two versions of his life, and a sister who still feels hidden in Ivy’'s shadow. They’'re trying so hard to be normal, but nothing is.

When Ivy is reunited with her first boyfriend, the intensity of adolescent love comes rushing back. She'’s picking up the threads of a life half-lived, but they’'re about to be pulled apart again.

Ivy'’s captor is on the run, and she isn’'t safe. Assigned to the case are DI Elliott Carne and DI Lisa Merchant. Their bond is more than professional, but it begins to break as Carne is drawn closer to Ivy.

Then cracks appear in Ivy''’s account of her ordeal, and they start to doubt her motives. Beneath her childlike façade, she'’s become a strong-willed woman. What happened to Ivy in that cellar? How has it changed her? And can she be trusted?

A BBC failure
This show was a disappointment . After seeing so many superb BBC shows I wonder what they were thinking when they released this. First the characters seem to do things without any basis in common sense. It makes the British citizens seem rather stupid. Second, the police are made to look like uncaring, inept idiots[ the heroine manages to save herself twice without any help from them]. Some of the interactions among the police seem to be racist. This was so badly written that I cannot understand why the BBC produced this show.

Gone for 13 years
Gone so long with chances to flee. Why hadn't she? Indulges her mother's hovering. But, seems to prefer cozying up to the men she knew as a child, as well as new guys like the detective assigned to her case. Plot seemed predictable. Until it was not predictable at all!
